Meet the Doctors Behind Our Cancer Awareness Panel

Medical Excellence in Service of Community

One of PASOR's greatest assets is the remarkable talent within our community. Among our members are highly accomplished medical professionals who have chosen to give back by sharing their expertise with fellow Pakistani Americans. Our cancer awareness seminar showcased this talent, bringing together a distinguished panel of physicians committed to community health.

These doctors represent the best of what our community has to offer: professional excellence combined with a deep commitment to service. Their willingness to volunteer their time and knowledge exemplifies why community health education matters and demonstrates the power of community connections.

Dr. Ahmed Khan - Oncologist

Dr. Ahmed Khan has been practicing oncology in Rochester for over fifteen years. Board-certified in internal medicine and medical oncology, he has dedicated his career to treating cancer patients and advancing research in the field.

Born in Karachi, Dr. Khan immigrated to the United States for his medical residency and fell in love with Rochester's welcoming community. He completed his oncology fellowship at a prestigious East Coast institution before returning to Rochester to establish his practice.

Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Khan is passionate about cancer prevention education. He believes that many cancers can be prevented through lifestyle changes and early detection. His presentations at PASOR events have covered topics ranging from colorectal cancer screening to the latest advances in immunotherapy.

"When I can help someone from my own community understand the importance of regular screenings, I know I'm making a difference that extends beyond my clinic," Dr. Khan shared. "Cultural and language barriers shouldn't prevent anyone from getting the care they need."

Dr. Fatima Malik - Breast Surgeon

Dr. Fatima Malik specializes in breast surgery, with expertise in both oncological and reconstructive procedures. Her practice focuses on providing compassionate, comprehensive care to women facing breast cancer.

A graduate of King Edward Medical University in Lahore, Dr. Malik completed her surgical training in the United States and pursued additional fellowship training in breast surgical oncology. Her technical skills are matched by her caring bedside manner, which has earned her a devoted patient following.

Dr. Malik is particularly passionate about reaching Pakistani American women, who may face cultural barriers to seeking breast care. She has been instrumental in organizing breast cancer awareness initiatives within PASOR.

"Many women in our community are hesitant to discuss breast health or undergo mammograms," Dr. Malik explained. "By providing information in a comfortable, familiar setting, we can help overcome these barriers and save lives."

Dr. Rashid Hussain - Gastroenterologist

Dr. Rashid Hussain brings expertise in gastroenterology to our health initiatives. With a focus on digestive health and colorectal cancer prevention, he has performed thousands of colonoscopies and helped countless patients maintain their gastrointestinal health.

Dr. Hussain's journey to medicine began in Lahore, where he was inspired by his father, a general practitioner who served rural communities. After completing his medical degree and residency in Pakistan, he moved to the United States for fellowship training.

His contributions to PASOR events have focused on colorectal cancer prevention—a topic he considers crucial given that colorectal cancer is highly preventable through regular screening.

"A colonoscopy at age 45 can literally save your life," Dr. Hussain emphasized. "I've caught precancerous polyps in so many patients who had no symptoms. That's the power of preventive medicine."

Dr. Ayesha Siddiqui - Family Medicine Physician

Dr. Ayesha Siddiqui serves as the primary care voice on our panel. As a family medicine physician, she takes a holistic approach to health, emphasizing prevention and wellness alongside treatment.

Her perspective is invaluable because she often serves as the first point of contact for patients experiencing symptoms. She has trained her staff to recognize warning signs and ensures that appropriate screenings are discussed at every annual physical.

Dr. Siddiqui completed her medical training in Pakistan before pursuing residency in the United States. She chose family medicine because of its focus on long-term relationships with patients and families.

"I know many of my patients from PASOR events," Dr. Siddiqui noted. "That connection makes it easier to have honest conversations about their health. They trust me because we share a cultural background and community."

The Impact of Their Service

These physicians exemplify the spirit of service that defines PASOR. Despite demanding schedules, they consistently make time to volunteer at community events, answer questions, and provide guidance to fellow Pakistani Americans.

Their impact extends beyond formal events. Community members frequently reach out to them with health questions, seeking advice in their native language from someone who understands their cultural context. This informal support network is invaluable.

The panel's work directly supports PASOR's mission of building a stronger Pakistani American community. By addressing health disparities and promoting wellness, they contribute to a community where families can thrive.

Inspiring the Next Generation

These doctors also serve as role models for young Pakistani Americans considering careers in medicine. Through mentorship programs organized by PASOR, they share their experiences and advice with students and residents.

Their success stories demonstrate that Pakistani Americans can achieve the highest levels of professional accomplishment while maintaining strong connections to their community and heritage.

Supporting Their Mission

The work of these dedicated professionals is supported by PASOR's broader health initiatives. Funds raised through events like our Shaukat Khanum fundraiser help bring community health events to life.

By attending these events, spreading awareness, and supporting PASOR financially, community members enable our medical professionals to continue their volunteer service.
